Prediction markets work. The mechanism - a market that prices the probability of a future event - consistently outperforms expert consensus, analyst surveys, and polling when the markets are deep and the participants have genuine conviction.

The gap is privacy. Every trade on a public prediction market is visible on-chain. Your wallet's position history tells anyone who looks what you believe about every question you've traded. For participants whose positions represent genuine research and conviction - not speculation on headlines - this is a significant limitation.

A researcher who has spent weeks studying a geopolitical outcome doesn't want to broadcast their conclusion the moment they trade it. A professional who holds views on questions directly relevant to their industry has legitimate reasons not to want that position publicly legible. A market participant with any edge has an incentive to conceal it.

How position privacy works

On a standard prediction market, your trade is a public transaction: wallet address, direction, size, timestamp. Anyone can reconstruct your position history from the chain.

Oyrade uses zero-knowledge proofs to separate position data from wallet identity at the protocol level. When you take a position, your stake is committed as a cryptographic commitment - verifiable proof that a valid position exists, with the position details hidden. The on-chain state records that the commitment exists and what it is worth. It does not record who made it, in what direction, or at what size.

At resolution, winners claim payouts by presenting a ZK proof that they held a winning position - without revealing the position details or linking the payout to prior activity. The market distributes winnings correctly. The position history remains private.

The market itself still produces valid price signals. Aggregate market prices reflect the collective conviction of all participants. What changes is that individual positions are not exposed - which means participants with genuine edge can trade it without broadcasting it.

Oyrade runs on Solana for three reasons that matter in prediction markets specifically.

Transaction costs: fees under one cent mean that small-position trading - a $10 position on a market you have moderate conviction on - is economically viable. On Ethereum, gas costs would dwarf the potential payout on small positions.

Finality speed: prediction markets depend on resolution timing. Near-instant finality means resolution events propagate quickly and payouts can be distributed without multi-hour confirmation windows.

What you can trade

Markets with on-chain data sources (token prices, protocol TVL, governance outcomes) resolve automatically from oracle feeds - no human judgment, no resolution delay. Markets on events that require interpretation resolve through a staked resolution committee with a challenge window, designed to resist manipulation.

Anyone can create a market. Market creators stake a bond that is returned when the market resolves cleanly and reaches minimum volume. The creation process is permissionless; quality is maintained through economic incentives rather than curation.
